Security professionals worked, and continue working tirelessly, around the clock in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With COVID wreaking havoc, California enacted a law requiring employers to provide 80 hours of COVID pay to employees affected by COVID.
Many security professionals notified the Union they were not receiving COVID pay in a timely manner or, worse, not at all.
This is wage theft. The California Labor Code (CALC) requires employers pay penalties when committing wage theft.
Security officers like you, bargained to include the CALC in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Seeing unprecedented instances of wage theft, the Union filed a grievance for Allied Universal officers in the Silicon Valley, Kaiser and San Francisco Bay Area, covering all officers who experienced late or absent COVID-19 payments.
Allied Universal claims to have failed at retaining a majority of the requests, therefore is offering a lump sum payment to any members who requested COVID pay.
We believe whatever “lump sum” payments offered MUST be a fair payout for all members.
On behalf of USWW, we are asking all members who received late or no COVID pay to fill out a brief survey here. (LINK)
