USWW is Proud to Welcome 31 New Members from Oakland International Airport
June 8, 2018 On Thursday, May 17, USWW welcomed it 31 one new members to the airport division. Executives from G2 and the new members came together to formally count the cards signed by G2 members and ensure that a majority of them wanted to be represented by the union. The count showed that over 70% of the workers had signed cards

Airports Members from SFO Speak at City Hall to Raise Wages
June 8, 2018 Airport workers are fighting to raise the Minimum Compensation Ordinance for the City and County of San Francisco. Today, USWW members from San Francisco International Airport workers stood with other union workers in food service, nonprofit, retail, homecare, and other industries at San Francisco City Hall, to express the importance of raising the minimum wage to $16.86 on July 1, 2018.

End Poverty at Disney
June 8, 2018 Disneyland has long been a place where dreams are made possible- where people hope to experience a unique blend of fantasy and history, and sometimes a bit of magic. We, the USWW members that work at Disney feel a sense of pride in helping families create memories, but our employment has come at a cost. In recent years Disney has been putting profits over people in a way that is forcing us all to wake up to a new reality. As unions representing Disney workers, we have been bargaining for years with one of the biggest corporations in the country.

USWW Members from Disney Make their Voices Heard at the Annual Disney Shareholders Meeting
June 8, 2018 As members enter their contract negotiations, a new study reveals that 1 and 10 Disney employees have experienced homelessness in the past two years. A group of USWW Members from the Disneyland Resort mde their voices heard outside of Walt Disney Co.’s shareholders meeting in Houston on Thursday, demanding the company provide a “living wage.”

Officers at AT&T are Taking on the Giants
June 8, 2018 Security at AT&T are fighting to get paid at the end of every season rather than through regular pay periods throughout the year. They argue that the end of the season is similar to a termination because they will not be working again until the following season, and therefore they deserve to be paid in full at that time. The Giants argue that these seasonal employees should be paid just like regular employees.

End Rape on The Nightshift
June 8, 2018 As janitors we often work alone in the evening or late at night. We clock in after the last worker has flipped off the lights and locked the door. It’s tough work done for little pay in the anonymity of night, among mazes of empty cubicles and conference rooms. Some of us do not speak up because we fear being deported or fired.

End Poverty at Disney
June 8, 2018 A recent study shows us all exactly how stark the situation has become. “Working for the Mouse: A Survey of Disneyland Employees,” was released by researchers at Occidental College and the Economic Roundtable in early 2018. It summarizes the findings of a survey of 5,000 employees who work at the Disney resort and theme park in Southern California.

Janitors Vote to Avoid Strike Against Unfair Labor Practices — Claim Victory for Working Families in Low Income Communities
May 11, 2018 LOS ANGELES — SEIU United Service Workers West janitors in the Bay area, Orange County, and Los Angeles approved tonight a new contract covering wages and protocols against sexual harassment and assault. The ratification of the contract averts a strike against unfair labor practices that janitors were ready to trigger had there been no agreement reached with ABM, ABLE, DMS, and other janitorial contracting companies.

Caravan Against Fear
May 11, 2018 IN RESPONSE to the Trump Administration’s cruel and racist immigration policies, the members of USWW launched the Caravan Against Fear, which was designed to build momentum towards solutions to Trump’s scapegoating of immigrants and his breaking up of families with mass deportations.

Janitors Fast to end Rape on the Night Shift
May 11, 2018 IN 2015, the PBS Frontline documentary Rape on the Night Shift was released,
exposing widespread sexual harassment and rape of nightshift janitors in LA office buildings. As the union began showing the film and creating
safe space for janitors to talk about their experiences, it became clear that members of USWW had experienced rape and violence on the job.Division: Janitorial
