En 1990, miembros del sindicato de conserjes de L.A. iniciaron una huelga que se convirtió en un momento decisivo para el movimiento laboral. La campaña “Justicia para los conserjes” se opone a los salarios bajos, en su mayoría mujeres y hombres inmigrantes, contra poderosos líderes empresariales locales y corporaciones multinacionales.
Celebramos a las mujeres y hombres valientes que se sacrificaron por la lucha. Century City nos mostró lo que puede hacer el trabajo organizado y lo que nuestro poder puede lograr.
Este 13 de junio celebramos el aniversario de esta gran lucha por el respeto, la dignidad y un contrato justo. ¡Únase a nosotros para recordar esta fecha importante y construir un Sindicato fuerte para todos los trabajadores de servicios de la propiedad! In 1990 members of the L.A. janitors union launched a strike that became a turning point for the labor movement. The “Justice for Janitors” campaign pit low wage, mostly immigrant women and men against powerful local business leaders and multinational corporations.
We celebrate the brave women and men that sacrificed for the struggle. Century City showed us what organized labor can be and what our power can accomplish.
