Sign the Petition to Stand with Maria, Nate and Other Anschutz Employees Laid Off During The Pandemic

My Name is Nate Amos. I’ve worked at the Staples Center since 2014, in guest services and now in operations. I lost my job when the pandemic started. I have a ten year old child and  a newborn coming in September. My wife is currently on maternity leave from her job.  We don’t have any income. I’ve applied for unemployment, but because of the number of people filing, I haven’t gotten any checks yet.  We are living on $200 a month in food assistance. I have been applying for work, but the pandemic has put a freeze on hiring in most places.

I’m worried because I have a growing child and another on the way, and I’m not sure how I’m going to pay for rent and food.
My name is Maria Ortiz. I worked at the Oakland Coliseum for 22 years. I am a single mother with 3 children. I am the financial support for my family because my children are in school. Adrian is in University and because of the COVID-19 could not complete his studies. Neo goes to Laney College and Eduardo has just graduated from high school and is going to enter College. For me, it is a very difficult situation because I am not working. I am receiving unemployment, but that is only $ 425, and it is not enough to pay
Rent $1365.00
Water $ 200
Light $ 100
Food $ 400
Between my income and my utilities I have to gather an average of almost $2,000 per month. I am asking you, Mr. Anschutz, to read and see the case of each one of my colleagues, including me, the situation we are in with this pandemic. We as workers are not receiving any help from the AEG company, we hope you read and see the situation we are going through.

We’re stronger together.
