US CITIZENSHIP CLASSES

If you are thinking of becoming a US citizen in 2022, Building Skills Partnership has partnered with CHIRLA to host free citizenship classes via Zoom on Fridays from Jan. 28 to Apr. 22 or Saturdays from Jan. 29 to Apr. 23. Once you complete the course, you will receive help from a CHIRLA attorney to complete your N-400 application and a fee waiver if necessary.

ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE CLASSES – 2022

Starting January 25, 2022

Day classes: TUE & THU: 12pm – 2:00pm

Evening classes: TUE/WED/THU: 6pm – 7:30pm

BSP’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides workers with the opportunity to gain the language skills they need to navigate their workplace and community. This general ESL class allows students to learn basic literacy skills, including reading, writing, listening, and conversational skills. The ESL class is offered virtually during varying schedules that allow workers to join on their own time.

SINGLE-MOM JANITOR PROSPERS THROUGH COLLEGE-READINESS PROGRAMS

Jenny Mejia of Los Angeles is a single mother of two who works as a janitor. During the pandemic, she lost her permanent position and was switched to a temp worker at a new building with a reduction of hours. With limited resources and time, Jenny is continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the lives of her sons, Anthony and Eduardo, who are in 2nd and 6th grades, respectively. Through information provided by her workplace, Jenny was introduced to Building Skills Partnership (BSP), a nonprofit organization with programs aimed to improve the quality of life of property service workers in low-wage industries, as well as their families and communities by increasing their access to education, leadership, and career advancement. >>> Read more here
