Pinkie Lee

Ms Pinkie Lee is a strong woman who has always managed on her own. She works hard to stay afloat and always manages to keep others in mind. 

After 20 years as a security officer, Ms. Lee can boast that she is a supervisor. Her current client in Oakland brought her in to do just that. In fact, it took them 2 years to talk her in to it. She says everyone approached her, her skills and experience were that valued.

However, after 8 years at her current site and 15 with the same client, working as a supervisor has given Ms. Lee little more than additional responsibilities. At $12.80 an hour Ms. Lee performs all of the regular officer duties that she performed before in addition to supervisory duties within the building. For this she received a $2 raise.

When not working, Ms. Lee takes care of her elderly mother. She has been doing so for the last 10 years because she cannot afford to pay someone else to take care of her. She receives no government assistance, nor any in-home care assistance. If ever she needs additional help, she must pay someone out of pocket. 

With her mother at home, Ms. Lee cannot work additional overtime hours. She must make ends meet for both her and her mother on 40 hours a week. This includes any medication the two might need, all of their food and general basics.
